Quarter 1, Week 4 of 9

Starting This Thursday, August 29: 
Mr. Fisher will be available after school every Thursday from 2-3 pm for extra help at all phases of the Senior Paper.  Please make arrangements to attend if you would like to receive extra help. 
Monday, August 26
Classwork

  1. Learning Objective: L11-12.6- Acquire and use accurately general academic and domain-specific words and phrases.
  2. Do Now: Copy the learning objective only and prepare for today's quiz.
  3. Then: Vocabulary Unit 2, Quiz A (after the quiz, copy the 'target practice' and answer the question in your journal)
  4. After: Review the weekly sheet, up-coming due dates, and old grades
  5. Target Practice: How will understanding this new vocabulary aid you in presearching your Senior Paper topic this week?

Homework

  • Complete independent reading by this Friday, August 30 to be eligible for revision
  • Important: Make sure you know your Kekaulike Google Account login information.  You will need it at ALL TIMES from now until the end of your high school career!
  • By the end of the next class, you will be expected to have ONE COMPLETE bibliographical entry!
  • Bring ALL SENIOR PAPER materials with you to class from today until November 8!

Tuesday and Wednesday, August 27 & 28
Classwork

  1. Learning Objective: W11-12.8- Gather relevant information from multiple authoritative print and digital sources, using advanced searches effectively, assess strengths and weaknesses, purpose, audience, and follow a standard citation format (MLA).
  2. Do Now: Create five questions that that will guide your presearch today.  These questions should be about your topic.  They may be general or specific.
  3. Then: Begin presearching these questions using the computer.  Any source that meets the RADCAB criteria should be considered for placing on the annotated bibliography
  4. After: At least one of the sources you found today must have a COMPLETE ANNOTATED BIBIOGRAPHY ENTRY before you leave class!
  5. Target Practice: Create five more topic-specific questions based on the presearch you conducted today.  Write those questions in your journal.

  • Complete independent reading by this Friday, August 30 to be eligible for revision
  • By the end of next class you will be expected to have THREE COMPLETE bibliographical entries!

Thursday and Friday, August 29 & 30

  3. Then: Searching with library resources (use focused questioning from last class' Target Practice)
  4. After: At least two of the sources you found today must have COMPLETE ANNOTATED BIBIOGRAPHY ENTRIES before you leave class!
  5. Target Practice: Create five more topic-specific questions based on the presearch you conducted today.  Write those questions in your journal.
