  2. Do Now: Find assigned seats and read packet section for Period 2 or 3
  3. After: Welcome and introductions
  4. Then: Review Beginning of Year Packet information
  5. Next: Review Classroom rules, layout and expectations
  6. Target Practice: DID YOU REACH THE LEARNING OBJECTIVE? CHECK MARK, +, -
  7. Finish: Reminder about parent attendance bonus (Students will receive an enrichment bonus for parent/guardian attendance at Open House on August 15 @ 6:00.  Parents must sign-in completely for students to receive the bonus.)

  • Pick-up a journal and any other supplies needed for class
  • Sign any needed forms and return to appropriate teacher ASAP!
  • Choose Independent Reading title from the list provided by THIS FRIDAY.  Begin reading.  Consider which writing option is preferred from the list provided here.
  • Begin considering Senior Project Topics and possible Product options.  Familiarize yourself with the Senior Project Community website

Learning Objective: SL 11-12.4, PRESENT INFORMATION, FINDINGS, AND SUPPORTING EVIDENCE, CONVEYING A CLEAR AND DISTINCT PERSPECTIVE, SUCH THAT LISTENERS CAN FOLLOW THE LINE OF REASONING, ALTERNATIVE OR OPPOSING PERSPECTIVES ARE ADDRESSED, AND THE ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT, SUBSTANCE, AND STYLE ARE APPROPRIATE TO PURPOSE, AUDIENCE, AND A RANGE OF FORMAL AND INFORMAL TASKS.
  2. Do Now: In your journal, describe yourself with five adjectives.  Skip a line.  Then, write down how these characteristics can help you be successful in school this year.  Describe the characteristics if necessary.  Your response should be at least one paragraph, but no longer than a page.
  3. After: Share your response with someone near you.
  4. Next: 2 minute drill- students will each stand up, say their full name, the five adjectives, and read their response.
  5. Target Practice: In your journal, write down what characteristics from other presentations apply to you and that you may not have considered.  Describe how you might be able to cultivate these characteristics for greater academic success.

  • Continue reading IR book.  If you are choosing the Creative option for your activity, please speak to me outside of class about your idea by the end of Week 3.  NO CREATIVE OPTIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT THIS MEETING BY WEEK 3.
  • Continue familiarizing yourself with the Senior Project Community website and thinking about topic/product options.
